Virtual Red Cross Youth Programs during the Pandemic
Despite all the challenges of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the social distancing requirements and the multiple Lockdowns we have been fortunate to be able to continue to provide high quality Red Cross youth programs in a Virtual Online Learning format.
Last spring shortly after the start of the pandemic, the Canadian Red Cross released both the Stay Safe! and Babysitter Course in an online format to ensure Canadian youth can continue to learn the valuable life skills these courses provide. Although there may currently been less need for babysitters, many families have benefited in being able to further to have older children assist younger family members while parents currently try to balance their work from home, work life balance. The Stay Safe! (Home Alone) course has given many youths the strong skillset to be further independent at home even with parents working from home. With many activities for youth having been cancelled, there is no better time to sign up your child for one of these worthwhile programs.
All courses are taught by a certified Red Cross Youth Leader. These online sessions are fun an interactive with a wide variety of instructional platforms being used. There are many group breakaway rooms and games, interactive flip charts and brain storming apps, various instructor lead group discussions, live demos, on top of the Red Cross videos and presentations.
With each program a hard copy manual is mailed to the participant prior to the course. There is also an option to purchase a small training kit for the course or you can source your own recommended items. Successful participants will receive a Red Cross certificate emailed to them upon course completion.
